June 7 and 8 – 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

This event may be photographed and filmed, and subsequently publicly disclosed.

GAB-A is simultaneously a forum for discussion and an exhibition of young artists, artistic research projects, and works developed within the context of public higher education in the arts, integrated into the physical spaces where they are conceived and produced. It is not an exhibition in a gallery, museum, or cultural center. It is the opening of the artistic work and research spaces that the Faculty of Fine Arts contains, in the spirit of an open studio.

GAB-A is a sharing event open to the public, whose success depends on the will and ambitions of its participants. It is an informal space marked by the presence of young creators. A forum or fair where pragmatic issues are explored, such as engaging with the art market, forming groups and/or projects, or defining strategies for future actions. It is a moment rooted in the exchange of experiences, learning, and the application of knowledge.

In this edition, the sales Pop-up will take place on June 5. The aim is to provide the artistic practices involved with a democratic space dedicated to sales, so that this activity does not interfere with the proper functioning of GAB-A. The sales area will be a space where students will have the opportunity to sell their own merchandise, such as stickers, earrings, and utilitarian ceramics, among others. On June 6, 7 and 8, during the exhibition, students will have the opportunity to present their artworks and artistic projects developed throughout the semesters, which may also be sold.

At GAB-A, there is no selection of works or participants by any entity other than the authors themselves. This gives each student the opportunity to test their capacity for decision-making, self-criticism, and autonomy. All students are invited to participate. GAB-A seeks to create an environment of contemporary art dialogue within its very core (the place of learning and research), fostering reflection on art and the role it plays in the world.

GAB-A builds bridges between all levels of education. Alongside an undergraduate student, one may find a master’s or doctoral student.

All students from all courses and study cycles of the Faculty of Fine Arts are invited to participate.
